Across industries, what you know will not be as important as what you can imagine and how you bring those ideas to life.

“Before the first few weeks of Zero to One, I had always assumed that generating good ideas was a lottery of sorts, rapid-fire spitballing to see what would stick and what would not. Now, I realize that an intentional creative process, perhaps ironically created through a fruitful brainstorming process itself, was a much better path to ideation… At the end of these first few weeks, I already find myself trying to apply the creativity principles I have learned to outside work.”

“I had always believed that creativity was something that only a select few individuals have; but, after participating in the Zero to One course, I realized that this was not the case.”

The best way to have good ideas is to have lots of them. In my life I have always thought that you shouldn't have lots of ideas but good ideas, after learning that this is not the case I have been looking back on past experiences and realized why I made mistakes… In my creative process I always looked for the best ideas, I didn't focus on a large number of ideas. By doing this I did not test all the possibilities and therefore did not maximize my chances of success. If I had to do it all over again, I would no longer neglect brainstorming sessions and I would have far fewer preconceptions.

Non-Degree

“As a whole, I noticed many things through these weeks that I have not noticed before in myself like how it might be hard to come up with ideas, but soon you will get to your endpoint if you keep going. I am interested in what I will learn throughout the course to maybe help me in the future whether with my degree or just life.”

TU now offers one of the most useful, innovative undergraduate courses in the nation – a hands-on, industry expert guided experience on how to innovate

THE COURSE

Zero to One: How to Innovate and Change Your World

Innovation is the ultimate engine of value creation for businesses, but more importantly it’s what changes and improves the lives of everyday people. Since you’re a TU student, we know you came to create change.

Zero to One teaches you how to start at zero, where you learn how to discover the right problem worth solving and take it to one, where you create a viable solution through cycles of ideation, prototyping, and user feedback.

The end result is a user and market validated proof of concept – this could be a product, service, or experience – designed and tested to change something in the world. When you’ve developed something from zero to one, you have taken the first big and tough step to make an impact and change something.

Who’s it for?

This course is ideal for any major or career path. What you learn here can be used in any context to innovate. It is a universal skill with lifelong application. Zero to One is designed for freshmen and sophomores so you can apply the innovation methods you learn to all your work and interests moving forward. We want to spark your curiosity and empower you to pursue your passions as early in your TU career as possible.

What’s the course like?

In this class, you’ll learn many proven innovation methods used by successful companies like Pixar, Google, and Apple.

This is a hands-on immersive experience where, alongside TU’s own Dr. Nathan Woolard, you will be closely mentored by researchers, strategists, designers, writers, and engineers, who spend every day innovating at Gitwit, a leading full-stack innovation company headquartered in downtown Tulsa.

Co-founded by Jacob Johnson, a TU Collins College of Business alum, Gitwit is also behind Oklahoma’s first venture studio, 19days, a company whose only purpose is to create new companies. Your mentors from Gitwit are recognized worldwide for their work launching and marketing new companies, products, experiences, brands, and even movements.

“Forget about tests in this course…Zero to One isn’t about what you can remember for a grade, it’s about creating something new that no one will ever forget.”

You won’t find Gitwit on RateMyProfessors so...
